A critique can be good or bad. Art is just a form of communication. Wouldn't it be fun to talk about it? This blog will also give me some impetus to go out and look at art. It's a bit self-serving in that respect. It might be fun to try and have some thoughts about art in Portland that are worthy of sharing.
Does anybody love that sculpture on Burnside outside of Powell's bookstore? I'd have to say that I'm kind of used to it now, after the years of looking at it shaking my head. It looks to me like something that was a really good proposal (great on paper) but is just aesthetically awkward in real life. It moves. The middle part mimics a plant right? It makes me wince at bit.
